Is sprout free to use?

Yes, sprout is completely free. You get ₹10,00,000 in virtual capital instantly with no credit card, no KYC, and no real money involved.

Does sprout use real NSE stock prices?

Yes. sprout uses current NSE market data so your paper trades reflect real market conditions as closely as possible.

Is paper trading legal in India?

Yes, paper trading is completely legal in India. It is purely a simulation — no real money changes hands, and it is not regulated as financial trading.

Can I practice options trading on sprout?

Options trading is on the roadmap. Currently sprout supports NSE equity trading with delivery orders. F&O paper trading is coming in a future update.

Sprout is a paper (virtual) stock trading simulator for the Indian stock market (NSE). It lets you practice buying and selling stocks with virtual money, without any real financial risk.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights with respect to that data.

Information We Collect

1.1 Data We Do NOT Collect

Sprout does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

Your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information
Location data
Passwords or authentication credentials
Payment or financial information
Any personally identifiable information (PII)

There are no user accounts, no registration, and no login required to use the app.

1.2 Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All trading activity is stored exclusively on your device using a local SQLite database and AsyncStorage. This includes:

Your virtual portfolio balance and transaction history
Open stock positions (symbol, quantity, buy price, timestamp)
Realized trade records (profit/loss, close price, timestamps)
Cached stock prices for offline display
App appearance preference (light / dark / system theme)

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to ParkLane Labs or any third party.

Third-Party Services

2.1 Google AdMob (Advertising)

Sprout displays advertisements served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain device information to serve ads. This may include:

Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID / IDFA on iOS)
Device model, OS version, and language settings
General app usage and interaction data with ads
IP address (used to determine approximate country/region)

Where possible, we request non-personalized ads only (requestNonPersonalizedAdsOnly: true), which limits the use of personal data for ad targeting.

You can opt out of interest-based advertising on Android by going to: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization

2.2 Stock Price & Market Data API

Sprout fetches live stock prices and market status from a third-party market data API to display real-time quotes. These requests contain:

Stock ticker symbols you are viewing
Standard HTTP request headers (e.g., device IP address)

No personal information is included in these requests.

How We Use Information

Since Sprout stores all user data locally on your device, we do not process, analyze, or have access to your trading activity. The app uses locally stored data solely to:

Display your portfolio, positions, and trade history within the app
Calculate profit/loss and other trading metrics
Cache stock prices for improved performance when offline

Data Retention and Deletion

All app data resides on your device. You can delete it at any time by:

Resetting your portfolio via Account → Reset My Portfolio (clears balance and all trade history)
Uninstalling the app, which removes all locally stored data

Children's Privacy

Sprout is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child under 13 has used the app and data has been collected through AdMob, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Data Security

Because all user-generated data is stored locally on your device, its security is subject to your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc.). We do not transmit your portfolio data over the internet, which minimizes exposure to external threats.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
